Received email from his assistant. Is this a form rejection? I have no idea if he even looked at the work.

Thank you very much for sending us your work. We have looked at the material that you kindly sent us and whilst there is much to be admired, I am afraid that Peter does not feel that he would be the right agent for you.
We wish you the best for the future and good luck in your quest to find representation and publication.
Kind regards,
Emer

ultimate592, I don't mind others' rant ... if it has a point. My query is 47 days old, and I know by now it is a friggin No, but is it too much to ask for a reply that says so in a civil manner? Takes a few seconds. Considering the garbage that gets published these days, the trees that get cut for the sort of "next Harry Potter"s that fill the racks at Barnes and Noble and do not sell even at 80% off listed price, when the place goes out of business, makes me think this lit-agency, gatekeeper class is not the oracle of what sells and what is good literature. Tailoring my query letter to and researching some agent who cannot even be bothered to send a rejection reply is frustrating as f***.
