@zaubin -- I may be beating a dead horse here but your attitude for rejection is not a good look. Most agents can tell if your work is good within the first few lines, never mind the first five pages, and if this is how you handle being rejected... yikes.
Misgendering Ms. McClure could also be a very good reason as to why you were rejected in the first place. If you can't be asked to do simple research about a person's pronouns, why should they give you the time?

@zaubin If your letter does not grab their attention what makes you think a larger sample would? First 5 pages is standard because your letter should tell it all. Also not he is she learn to correctly gender persons.
