Rejection/ DO NOT QUERY RUDE ASSistant
Dear X

Thank you for giving us a shot at this. I hope that summertime is treating you well so far… I deeply regret that the demands on our time are such that we are unable to represent your project.
We wish you every success. We also hope you are and remain well in these challenging times.

Best wishes,
Assistant to Luke Janklow

Update: ask the assistant for advice on the query and got feedback: “I suggest you take a look at your capitalization and punctuation before submitting this again.

All best wishes,

X

Asked for a direct example of this in the manuscript.

UPDATE:

Do not query this agent. Assistant is a jerk or Ai I can’t tell probably both. Maybe they get shit from people all day. I got an angry vibe from them and at the end of the day it wasn’t a fit for the list right now

The highlight of the email chain when I asked if the capitalization caused the rejection or not they said no and gave general advice instead of what needed to be worked on in the query or manuscript. Maybe I pushed too hard but the way it was worded sounded so sarcastic and rubbed me the wrong way. I rather have this dude's assistant be on the level and tell me what needs to be fixed instead of giving basic advice that doesn’t help improve my query package. This agency is a joke.

Dear ,

My advice is to go to the library and look at books in this genre you admire. See whether those authors thank their agents in the acknowledgement section and target those agents, referencing the client that appealed to you.

All best wishes,

Claire

I was asking more so on the query letter and manuscript package I sent you all. I really want to put this in the hands of literally agents who give it the attention it’s deserves.

Thanks,

Certainly not. This wasn’t a good match for Mr. Janklow’s list right now.

I was merely responding to your request for any advice.

All best wishes,

Claire

Is that why it got rejected or is there an example of this in the manuscript on a Marco level?

Best,

X
