Hey All,
Weighing on the R&R topic. I DM'd Liv on IG letting her know that I had a heavily revised version after a full pass and she sent me the link then and there. I didn't receive one upon initial rejection.

@aswiftauthor— thanks for sharing your experience, really helpful. I got what I thought was a pass/R&R from this agent (rejection with edit recommendations plus expression of interest in reading with changes) but I didn't get a hyperlink, which makes me wonder if it was as much as an R&R as I had initially believed.

Query: Jan 25, 2025
Partial request (50 pages): Feb 4
Notice of other full request (per her instructions): Feb 5
Full request: Feb 6
Pass/R&R with hyperlink to resubmit after revision: Apr 7

Liv gave highly personalized feedback both when requesting the full (after the partial) and when letting me know her final decision. She had great ideas for revision and also pointed out specific aspects of the world/magic/characters she loved, so I really appreciate her going above and beyond to personalize her feedback despite not owing that to writers and the time it must take. This pass broke my heart, but I'm excited to hopefully resubmit to her after a revision. I'm guessing she likely read my full up to the midpoint, since she didn't mention a huge plot twist in the romance that happens soon after, but I can't be sure.

Highly recommend querying her!

Q: Feb 1st
First 50 pages request: Feb 10th (9 days)
Rejection: April 1st (50 days)

"The concept is strong — [recapped the concept]. Additionally, I enjoyed your tension filled opening, [describes the first chapters], leaving the readers with questions that encourage them to jump into the rest of your story. I see so much potential here, but I didn't end up falling in love with the story and feeling fully invested in the narrative in the way I need to move forward"

There was no information on how to improve the manuscript from there, which sometimes can be tough, but it's not her job to give editorial feedback at this stage. She was very kind throughout and I would recommend querying her.

She ended the reply with: "Please also feel free to query me again if you have any new manuscripts you'd like me to consider." Which keeps me hopeful for the future.
