Q: 4/2/25 65K Speculative/Political Fiction
R: 4/3/25 Nicest rejection I've received thus far- and there have been so many! Vicki seems so helpful, and I would love to be able to work with her one day! Perhaps my next book would be a better fit.

Quickest response I've ever gotten...form response but kindly encouraged me to send to others in the agency. Not sure if I'm being overly optimistic, but it feels like a bit of a thumbs up to your writing when they add the note to send it to others in their agency or to send them more of your work in the future.

"Thanks for sending PARACORPS STAR: MOURNING STARS my way for consideration! While there's much to admire about your manuscript, I'm afraid the execution didn't hook me and I don't have the editorial vision here to move forward."
290K is ambitious for a debut author to pitch on, I'm glad that Vicky gave me the time of day on it. This was my very first pitch, and I mostly did it just to gain in-person experience, was very surprised when she asked for a partial manuscript. I think the way forward is to complete a smaller more self-contained manuscript, gain author buy-in, and only then try for the grand epics. Will be pitching to Vicky in the future, she was a delight.
