RoseBee. I am aware that the allegations made by some on this thread are that the "plug" is unethical precisely because it came with a rejection. I believe that is clear.
I see nothing wrong with including blogs, sites or editing books to rejected authors. It's done all the time. Is she asking for money? No. Is she offering editing to those rejected? No. How is this unethical? It is not. How is anyone injured by the inclusion of a link to a podcast in a rejection letter?
What is in fact "unkind" is the 'pile- up' going on in this thread. I am going to refrain from further comment. I wish you the best of luck in your writing journey.

@CantStopWriting No one is implying that a podcast offering querying writers advice is unethical. It was the fact that she plugged it in the rejection letters. Her Twitter account already promotes this podcast, which is completely fine and the appropriate place to advertise it. She also, according to her stats, has been requesting a large volume of fulls (this is also fine and of course up to her judgement as an agent), so some of the unease you're seeing here is due to such a large number of writers being rejected with a form that at the very least feels abnormal, and at worst is unethical. I think it's unkind to suggest this criticism is bitterness. Most querying writers fully respect and understand the use of form rejections on fulls and query letters. There is nothing wrong with pointing out when something doesn't seem right.

I don't think that sharing a podcast about writing is bad. And agents don't owe writers feedback on queries or fulls. I think it's bad form to suggest an agent is "unethical" if they share a podcast and reject your work.
I read the rejection letters shared. She's saying it's a way to support writers she can't personally represent. That's actually nice.
These pile-ons do nothing to promote good relationships between writers and agents. And many times it's why agents stop offering advise or help. It sounds more like an author who is bitter after being rejected.

Same here. 177 days, formal rejection on full MS, no personalized comments, and a podcast plug. Incredibly unprofessional.
